The Dead Trees are Michael Ian Cummings (vox, guitar), Todd Dalhoff (bass, vox), Matthew Borg (guitar, vox) and Noah Rubin (drums, vox), a bunch of wandering nomads in search of the perfect sound. After forming the band in Boston and recording their debut Fort Music EP shortly thereafter, The Dead Trees packed up and headed west to Portland, Oregon.Somewhere along the way, Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr, got his hands on the EP and took The Dead Trees on two US tours supporting his solo effort. Between tours the guys spent their time in Portland working odd jobs, and writing and recording their first full-length, King of Rosa. After releasing the album on Milan Records/ADA in late 2008, they spent most of the next year on the road with bands such as The Whigs, Adam Green and MGMT, as well as touring Europe, Brazil and the U.S. as support as well as Little Joy’s backing band.
